2016 NRA/Winchester Pistol Program

The Laramie County Shooting Sports Complex is proud to sponsor an NRA Pistol Skill Building Program this 2016 Winter season, meeting Saturday mornings at 10am.

Got some Questions…?

Please read the FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

Where is the program being held?
The program will be in our indoor range located at the Archer Complex…just follow the signs to the indoor range.

Who is invited to participate?
This NRA program is open to Laramie County Shooting Sports Complex members and non–members, men, women, and juniors.

ALL JUNIORS (age 12–17) MUST be accompanied on the line at all times by a non–shooting adult.

Is this program a SHOOTING COMPETITION?
NO!! The shooter "practices with a purpose"…there are seven different courses of fire.

YOU ARE COMPETING AGAINST YOURSELF AND THE TARGET…YOU ARE NOT COMPETING AGAINST OTHER SHOOTERS.

What kind of handgun can I use to shoot the course of fire?
You may shoot any SAFE semi–automatic or revolver handgun….

The instructors strongly advise using a .22 Caliber rim fire handgun in order to lower the cost of ammunition and for instructional purposes.

What caliber can I shoot?
You can shoot .22 caliber rim fire to .45 ACP. All other calibers are subject to our indoor range caliber restrictions. Please check with the program facilitators to make sure your handgun is safe for our range.

How difficult are the courses of fire?
All courses of fire are shot from 15 feet.

Does the program provide Ammunition?
NO….Shooter supplies both the handgun and the ammunition.

Do I need bring anything else?
YES!!! You need to bring a pair of safety glasses and adequate hearing protection. You can NOT shoot without these items. There are no exceptions, UNLESS you wear prescription eyeglasses. They must meet firearm safety standards.

What about targets?
All targets are provided as part of your paid fees.

What if I am not an experienced shooter?
The program is supervised by 2 NRA Certified Pistol Instructors and they help you build your skill sets. These practice sessions are no substitute for taking an NRA course to learn more about sporting firearms and safety.

How much does the program cost?
$75 per person.

How do I pay?
Go to the bottom of this page and click on the "application" button and print a copy of the form. Please file out the entire application and enclose a check for the appropriate fee. Please make the check to "Laramie County Treasurer". You can mail the application and the check to Laramie County Shooting Complex 13802 Bullseye Blvd. Cheyenne, Wyoming 82009. Please make a notation on the memo portion of the check…"NRA/Winchester Pistol Program". If you are paying by cash please call the range at 775–7484 and make arrangements.

What happens after I sign up?

  1. NRA/Winchester Qualification catalogue which explains each course of fire.
  2. You will receive a NRA Handgun Qualification patch
  3. You will be told how the program works and shown the awards for obtaining each of the different courses of fire.
