Sheriff Kozak has launched two new programs to attract talented applicants to join our team:

  1. Hire the Retired - a lateral applicant, who is a certified peace officer or detention deputy, and collecting a Wyoming law enforcement retirement is eligible be paid a full salary, benefits and continue to collect a pension. Additionally, lateral applicants will receive a starting salary as high as $69,763. When you add in holiday pay and briefing time it can be close to $74,000 a year.
  2. Minimum age - the minimum age to apply for a detention deputy is now 18 years of age. Those who want to start their exciting law enforcement career early, may do so in Laramie County and earn a minimum of $58,136 a year. When you include briefing time and Holiday time it’s close to $62,000 a year. Imagine this; you could retire at age 38!
