Recovery Courts

About the Laramie County Recovery Courts programs:

Laramie County operates three specialized treatment court programs: Drug Court, DUI Court, and Mental Health Diversion Court. These programs address the underlying causes of criminal behavior through a coordinated approach that combines treatment, supervision, accountability, and on-going support.  Participants are provided with the structure and resources needed to build stable, healthy, and productive lives. Recovery Courts are widely recognized as one of the most effective criminal justice interventions in the United States and in Wyoming. In Laramie County, the results are clear—approximately 80% of participants who graduate from a Recovery Court program are not re-arrested for new criminal offenses.

Elements of the Recovery Court programs:

  • Rapid Intervention
  • Immediate Access to Treatment
  • Systematic and Coordinated Approach to Treatment
  • Judicial Leadership
  • Frequent and Direct Contact with Recovery Court Team Members
  • Use of Incentives and Sanctions to Support or Discourage Participant Behaviors.
