Wyoming’s Voting Equipment

All Wyoming counties use the same election equipment and software—Election Systems & Software (ES&S).  All ballots are printed on paper, producing an audit trail to confirm the accuracy of every vote.  Wyoming’s equipment undergoes rigorous certification standards before being certified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission as well as tested and certified by the State of Wyoming.  State law requires electronic voting systems be air-gapped, a security measure making them physically incapable of being connected to the internet or other network devices.

Our election equipment combines the security of a paper ballot and the accuracy and speed of advanced ballot scanning systems. Votes on paper ballots are recorded on scanners located at each polling place and at the county clerk’s central counting facility. Paper ballots are secured for auditing and verification of results.
