2026 General Election candidate filing period: August 5 – August 24

Minor and provisional party candidate filing deadline: August 17

Independent candidate filing deadline: August 24 (required number of signatures for a countywide race is 858)

Committee Forms and Information

Each candidate, candidate committee, and political action committee is required to file campaign finance reports within the statutory deadlines, whether the candidate is successful or not; this is to include:

  • Candidates who neither receive nor spend any money during the campaign must file.
  • A committee formed before or after an election is required to file before each election.
  • In an odd-numbered (non-election) year, a candidate committee or PAC that has not filed a statement of termination is required to file an annual itemized statement of contributions and expenditures (W.S. 22-25-106(b)(ii)).

 

The statutory filing deadlines are:

  • 7 days before the primary election: August 11, 2026
  • 7 days before the general election: October 27, 2026
  • Non-election year (odd-numbered year): December 31, 2025
  • 7 days before a special election
