The Laramie County Clerk’s Motor Vehicle Titles office will temporarily close for two days next week to address the significant increase in mailed-in title applications and to implement new software designed to streamline processes and improve customer service.

During the two-day closure Tues., Feb. 10, and Weds., Feb. 11, titles staff will focus on reducing the backlog of approximately 60 days of mailed title documents that has led to processing delays. According to Laramie County Clerk Debra Lee, this effort is expected to reduce the backlog by at least 20 percent.

The closure does not affect vehicle registrations which are done through the Treasurer’s office.

Lee said the closure is scheduled during one of the slower periods of the month to minimize disruption to customers. “We know this will be inconvenient for some residents, and we appreciate the community’s support and understanding while we complete the necessary work to put our new software into action and to get a handle on our growing volume of title applications,” she added.

The Titles office currently serves up to 200 walk-in customers daily and receives more than 30 title applications by mail each day.

Motor vehicle titles services will resume normal operations on Thursday, February 12.

Lee reminds customers they can make an appointment for services on the Clerk’s Motor Vehicle Titles website (https://www.laramiecountywy.gov/County-Government/Elected-Officials/County-Clerk/Motor-Vehicle-Titles) or use a public kiosk in the Laramie County Governmental Complex.  Those without online access can call 633-4247 for assistance in scheduling an appointment.
