Laramie County Clerk’s office launches free service to help prevent property fraud
Laramie County Clerk Debra Lee announced the launch of a free service to help prevent property fraud. The Document Alert system sends an email notice to subscribers when property deeds, liens, or other recordings are filed in Laramie County using their information. Residents need to go online to sign up for the notifications.
Document Alert examines current recordings and corrections made to previously recorded documents, such as deeds and mortgages, government liens, trusts, and power-of-attorney filings, looking for matches to customer-specified criteria. When the system identifies a possible match, an email notification is sent to the subscriber detailing the relevant information. Customers can then determine if the recording is legitimate or fraudulent.
“We are excited to add this product as a layer of protection for Laramie County residents,” said Lee.
Residents can set up their free account at idocmarket.com, click on Document Alerts, and select Document Alert setup. Alerts can be customized based on name variations and property’s legal description. For more information and a step-by-step guide to setting up your Document Alert, visit the Real Estate-Recording page at https://www.laramiecountywy.gov/County-Government/Elected-Officials/County-Clerk, stop by the Clerk’s Recording office at the Laramie County Governmental Complex, 309 W 20th St., Suite 1600, or call the office at 633-4350.
