2026 Election Information

About Primary Elections

Wyoming has closed primary elections, which means only voters registered with a major party (Democratic or Republican) can vote in that party's primary. Winners from the primary election move forward to the general election.

Voters registered as unaffiliated or with a minor party (Constitution or Libertarian) may be able to vote in a primary election, but on a limited ballot. For example, if you live in Cheyenne or Pine Bluffs, you can vote for municipal offices and ballot questions or propositions.

Countywide ballot questions or propositions appear on all ballots regardless of party affiliation or residence.

Important: The legal deadline for registered voters to change their party affiliation before the primary is May 13, 2026. Changes to party affiliation may be made after the primary election is certified. Visit the Register to Vote page to find out how you can update your voter registration.

  • Coroner
  • District Attorney
  • Sheriff
  • County Clerk
  • County Treasurer
  • County Assessor
  • Clerk of District Court
  • Cheyenne City Council Ward 1 (1 seat)
  • Cheyenne City Council Ward 2 (1 seat)
  • Cheyenne City Council Ward 3 (1 seat)
