"RESOLUTION IMPOSING STAGE 2 FIRE RESTRICTIONS FOR LARAMIE COUNTY AS A RESULT OF EXTREME FIRE DANGER"

WHEREAS, pursuant to W.S. § 35-9-301 through 35-9-304 the Laramie County Board of County Commissioners has the power to order the imposition of restrictions on or prohibit designated activities within the confines of Laramie County in order to limit the use of fire or fire hazard; 

WHEREAS, Laramie County, Wyoming has experienced significant drought conditions due to lack of moisture resulting in high to extreme fire danger due the presence of excessive amounts of flammable materials; 

WHEREAS, Laramie County Fire Warden has recommended to the Laramie County Board of County Commissioners that Stage 2 Fire Restriction be imposed for of all of Laramie County to forms of fire and fire hazards is necessary due to the fire danger; and 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF LARAMIE COUNTY, WYOMING, that the discharge of fireworks and all outdoor fires are hereby prohibited in Laramie County in all unincorporated areas pursuant to W.S. § 35-9-301, § 35-9-302 and Chapter 9 of the Rules and Regulations of the State of Wyoming Board of Land Commissioners. To wit:

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED: 

Effective March 61\ 2024, until further notice of this Board, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, including any open fire or discharge of any class of fireworks is prohibited on all state and private land including, but not limited to, all lands owned by Laramie County or in which Laramie County holds or owns an interest, in the unincorporated areas of Laramie County, subject to the following restrictions/exemptions: 

STAGE 2: RESTRICTIONS

a) Discharge of fireworks and all outdoor fires are prohibited in unimproved areas.

(b) All campfires are prohibited.

(c) Trash or refuse fires between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 am., inside containers provided with spark arresters and located within a cleared radius of a minimum of 15ft. of burnable materials.

( d) Charcoal fires within enclosed grills are permitted.

(e) Use of acetylene cutting torches, electric arc welders, or metal grinding in a cleared radius of 15ft. burnable materials are permitted.

(f) The use of portable stoves, lanterns using gas, jellied petroleum, pressurized liquid fuel or fully enclosed (sheepherder type) stove and open fire branding activities in a cleared radius of 15ft of burnable materials is permitted.

(g) Devices using pressurized liquid or gas (stoves, grills or lanterns) that include shut-off valves are permitted when used in an area at least three feet or more from flammable material such as grasses or pine needles.
